A DIY gift guide, what I read this month, and some November reminders.
I’m writing this while sitting in a café downtown, surrounded by red plaid ribbons and shiny pinecone decor. Outside, fluffy flakes of snow are falling, signalling to fall that winter is closing in. It’s days like this when I catch myself thinking, hmm, maybe I do like November. Days like this when the snow falls heavy, covering everything in a fluffy, white blanket. When the cinnamon latte I’m drinking makes me feel warm and cozy from the inside out. When the café radio is playing Lana Del Rey and old Christmas classics.
I greet days like this with a soft smile, holding my mug with both hands and whispering just loud enough for it to hear: please stay awhile. Magical days like this don’t come often in November. Usually, I’m busy complaining about the darkness that arrives by 4:00 p.m., or the heavy layers I have to throw on just to go outside. But this year feels different—I’m actually trying to find the beauty (read: a cozy girl’s guide to November).
